Poila Boishakh is a Bengali Festival and also known as Bengali New Year. In Bengal it is called Poila Boishakh comes on the first day of Vaishakh month. On this day, all the Bengali people wish Happy New Year to each other by saying in their local language Shubho Nobo Borso. Shubho Nobo Barso means Happy New Year. According to beliefs, the month of Baisakh in Bengal is considered very auspicious.
Rituals celebrated on Poila Boishakh 2021 (Bengali New Year):-
On the day of Poila Boishakh, people clean their houses. The puja is recited. At the festival, traders start a new account. After doing Puja in the morning, home dishes are made and spend most of this day worshipping and meeting relatives and friends. It is believed that this festival offers prosperity and well-being to you and your entire family.
On this day, it is a tradition to decorate the house, go to the temple, and take blesses from the elders. The mother Bhagwati is still worshipped in villages on the Poila Boishakh day. Bhagwati means cow mother. In the morning, Gau Mata is bathed and tilak is applied to them. After that, the cow is offered a blessing by touching their feet.

Seminar fairs are organized in the village. Women in yellow saris and men in pyjama or dhoti kurta attend the fair in the evening. People arrive at the seminar pavilion carrying the idol of Radha-Krishna from their homes. Then worship is done together. Bhajan kirtans are performed. It is also custom to burn straw on the morning of Poila Boishakh (Bangla New Year). People recount all the sufferings of their past year in this straw.
It is believed that this leads to prosperity throughout the year. On this day, it is also a tradition to wake up early in the morning and watch the rising sun. It is believed that doing so is auspicious. This is a New Year Day for Bengali people hence we can see them in their traditional clothes during the day.
In the morning, people have a breakfast of parantha with fried Hilsa fish, green chillies, and onions. Bengalis worship Lord Ganesha and Mother Lakshmi on this day. Clouds are also worshipped for the good rain.
