National Girl Child Day is celebrated every year in India on 24 January. This day is celebrated to remove discrimination against girls and to spread awareness in the family and society. In India, from the family to the society, gender discrimination and partiality is done towards girls everywhere. This day is being celebrated for the last twelve years to remove such things and to give equal opportunities and maximum facilities and support to the girls.

National Girl Child Day is organized with a view to increase awareness about the girl’s conditions and their rights, to remove the inequality against the girl child and to provide them proper education and health. Actually, it is not possible to build any strong society without girls and their participation is everywhere from the country to the society. In such a situation, along with spreading awareness through various programs, it is also appealed that girls should also get social facilities like boys.

Importance of National Girl Child Day:-

Even though today the daughters of the country are waving their flag in every field, but even today the birth of girl child in rural areas is considered a burden on the family, but the important role of daughters in society cannot be ignored. Daughters are special in every sense and a priceless gift given by God, so Daughter’s Day is celebrated in honour of daughters. On this day, daughters are made to feel special, they are appreciated and they are made to believe that they are special and capable in every way like boys. (National Girl Child Day)

 

Reasons for celebrating National Girl Child Day:-:-

An initiative was taken to celebrate Girl Child Day (National Girl Child Day) at the national level since 2008. It was started by the Ministry of Women and Development, Government of India. Its objective is to raise awareness about the challenges faced by the girl child and to protect their rights. Conservative practices like child marriage, dowry system and female feticide, which have been going on for years, used to be quite prevalent. The duplicity of society towards daughters is visible all over the world. In the modern era, efforts are being made to give girls their rights and to make people aware of them. Work is underway in this direction at the national level. And many other schemes are being implemented by NGOs.

Purpose of celebrating National Girl Child Day:-

National Girl Child Day was started by the Indian government as the National Mission for the Development of the Girl Child. The main purpose of celebrating National Girl Child Day is to remove discrimination against girls and to spread awareness in the family and society about their rights and importance.  Along with this also ensure that every girl gets human rights of education, freedom, equality. Through this, making people aware of gender inequality, educations importance in a girl’s life is also spread as education is very important for all whether it’s girl or boy.

When is National Girl Child Day 2022?:-

On the occasion of this special day, we have seen special programs are held in India and the entire world to spread the importance of a girl in our life and society. National Girl Child Day in India is celebrated on 24th January 2022 and International Girl Child Day is celebrated globally on 11 October.

 

How to Celebrate National Girl Child Day?:-

Since 2008 this special day of National Girl Child Day is celebrated and this day has been inaugurated by the Ministry of Women and Child Development. Since then, National Girl Child Day is celebrated across the country on 24 January every year. Various programs are organized on this occasion in which messages of save the girl child and remove discrimination against the girl child are given.

The government organizes awareness programs on issues like girls’ safety, education, sex ratio, health on this day. Through these campaigns, a change is brought in the mindset of the people towards the girl child and girls and they are made aware that girl and boy are equal. Due to these campaigns, there has been a change in the mindset of discrimination against girls in rural areas as well. In the year 2014, a year after coming to power, the Modi government started the “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” campaign in 2015, which has a positive impact on society and awareness has come in the mindset of discrimination against daughters.
