Karwa Chauth Katha:-

The way worship of Karwa Chauth is important, in the same way, Karwa Chauth Katha or Karwa Chauth’s story is also important. Worship cannot be completed without listening to Karwa Chauth Katha. So let’s listen to the legend of Karwa Chauth.

Today, for the long life of the husband, the married women keep a Nirjala fast. Goddess Parvati and Shiva family are worshipped in the evening and only after worship, there is a law to listen to the story. It is believed that if the story is not heard on this day, then the fast is incomplete, and the storyteller also gets virtuous profit. The importance of this fast has also been told in the Karwa Chauth Katha itself. So let’s know what is the legend related to this fast.

Karwa Chauth Story (Karwa Chauth ki Kahani):-

A moneylender had seven boys and one girl. The moneylender loved his daughter very much. On the Chaturthi day of Kartik month in the Krishna Paksha, the wives of Seth’s seven boys and his daughter kept a strict fast of Karwa Chauth for their husbands. When the moneylender’s son sat down to eat at night, everyone asked his sister to eat too, but sister Veeravati told that she could not eat till the moon came out. Seeing the sister suffering from hunger, the moneylender’s sons lit a fire and showed the fake moon on the tree. The sister thought that the moon had come out and she sat down to eat after offering Arghya to the moon, but the sisters-in-law told her that the moon had not come out. (Karwa Chauth ki Kahani)

His brothers are showing her a fake moon made of fire, but she did not listen to them and sat down to eat. Even before the completion of the fast, Lord Ganesh Ji became displeased with the moneylender’s girl by sitting down to eat food. When Veeravati sat down to eat, she started getting some inauspicious signs at the same time. She found hair in the first mouthful, she sneezed in the second mouthful and when she went to eat the third mouthful, she got information that her husband had died suddenly.

Seeing the dead body of her husband, Veeravati’s lament became so intense that she reached the three worlds (3 Loks). She started blaming herself for her mistake. Hearing Veeravati’s lament, Lord Indra’s wife Indrani also reached to console Veeravati and explained why her husband had died. She started pleading with Goddess Indrani to revive Veeravati’s husband. Seeing the grief of Veeravati, Goddess Indrani told her that she had broken the fast without offering Arghya to the moon, so she should observe this fast on the Chauth of every month and complete the fast on Karwa Chauth. Veeravati did the same and she found her husband alive again. So after listening to the Karwa Chauth Katha (Karwa Chauth ki Kahani), offering Arghya to the moon on moonrise is considered completing the fast.
