Birthday of Guru Har Rai Ji:- Shri Guru Har Rai Ji became the seventh Guru of Sikhism. Guru Ji got the Guru Gaddi from his grandfather Shri Guru Har Gobind Ji. Guru Ji was very humble and of simple nature. After becoming a guru, he not only distributed knowledge to the Sangat but at the same time, he also made a lot of efforts for the service of every class. To avoid the problem of dispensary, Langar and water in Kiratpur, Guru Ji made arrangements for wells for the Sangat. Guru Ji would preach love and unity to all and always asked everyone to remain steadfast on the path of truth.

Shri Guru Har Rai Ji’s Birth and Family details (Birthday of Guru Har Rai Ji):-

Shri Guru Har Rai was born on 16 January 1630 in the Sodhi Gharana in Kiratpur Sahib, Punjab. Guru Har Rai was the grandson of Shri Guru Har Gobind Ji. Guru Har Rai’s mother’s name was Nihal Kaur and his father’s name was Baba Gurdita Ji.  Guru Har Rai was the eldest son of his parents. At the age of 14, he received the title of Nanak. How did Guru Har Rai achieve the title of Guru? (Birthday of Guru Har Rai Ji) :-

The sixth Guru of the Sikhs and his grandfather, Guru Hargobind Singh Ji, before joining the Jyoti Jot, at the young age of 14, gave his grandson Har Rai Ji the seventh guru title on 3 March 1644.  After the death of Guru Hargobind Ji, on March 8, 1644, at the age of just fourteen, he became the seventh Guru of Sikhism.  He guided the Sikhs for nearly seventeen years, until his death at the age of 31.

 

The personality of Guru Har Rai Ji (Birthday of Guru Har Rai Ji):- 

Guru Har Rai was a peace-loving Guru.  During his time, he received a lot of criticism due to his liberal behaviour towards the Mughals.  But by nature, Guru Har Rai Ji wanted the Mughals to be answered at the right time.  He first wanted to make the Sikhs united and strong at the spiritual level.  By nature, an incident related to the life of Guru Har Rai Ji often arises that’s why he made the younger son sit on the Guru Gaddi instead of his elder son.  Guru Har Rai Ji is said to have once helped Dara Sikoh “who was Shah Jahan’s elder son and Aurangzeb’s elder brother” in revolt against Aurangzeb. Guru Har Rai Ji said that Dara Sikoh was in trouble and being a true Sikh he helped him.  After this, when Aurangzeb came to know about this, he called Guru Har Rai Ji to the meeting.  Guru Har Rai sent his eldest son Ram Rai as his representative.  In order to pardon his father, Guru Har Rai, Ram Rai narrated some lines of the Adi Granth to Aurangzeb.  It is said that these lines used to bring insult to Sikhism.  When Guru Har Rai Ji came to know about this, he was very angry and he made the younger son the heir to his Guru Gaddi instead of the elder son.

Shri Guru Har Rai Ji ran Clinic and Langar (Birthday of Guru Har Rai Ji):-

Guru Ji was always ready to help everyone, but he paid special attention to the help of the poor and destitute. Guru Ji opened many dispensaries for the poor in Kiratpur, where all kinds of medicines were brought. All were treated free of cost in Guru Ji’s dispensaries. Helping Dara Shikoh (Birthday of Guru Har Rai Ji):-

Shah Jahan loved his elder son Dara Shikoh very much but Shah Jahan’s younger son Aurangzeb did not like it at all. Aurangzeb hated his elder brother Dara Shikoh very much. Due to his anger and hatred, Aurangzeb made his elder brother Dara Shikoh feed a lion’s hair in the food. Due to which Dara Shikoh’s stomach got upset. Dara Shikoh’s health did not improve even after getting treatment from many places. Then on someone’s suggestion, Shah Jahan sought help from Guru Har Rai Ji. Guru Ji sent all the necessary medicines from his Kiratpur dispensaries to Dara Shikoh, due to which Darsco’s health improved. Dara Shikoh also sent many gifts and gifts to Guru Ji’s door to bless Guru Ji.

 

Abandon his son Ram Rai (Birthday of Guru Har Rai Ji):-

When Aurangzeb became the king, Aurangzeb tried to cure Sikhism. Aurangzeb could not tolerate the love people had for Guru Ji. Aurangzeb belonged to the religion of Islam and he considered the progress of Sikhism as a threat to Islam. Because of which Aurangzeb also sent an order to Guru Ji to appear in Delhi. When Guru Ji refused Aurangzeb, Aurangzeb sent the army to Guru Ji and asked him to bring him captive, but Aurangzeb’s army could not succeed in this. Due to which Aurangzeb understood that it is not possible to forcibly call Guru Ji to Delhi. Then Aurangzeb asked a Sikh and sent him to bring Guru Ji to Delhi with respect. After listening to the request of the Sikh, Guru Ji sent his eldest son Ram Rai Ji in his place to meet Aurangzeb. At that time “Ram Rai” Ji was only 11 years old but he was very good to give back answer.

Aurangzeb respected Guru Ji’s son Ram Rai Ji very much and also gave him many gifts. But once Aurangzeb asked Ram Rai Ji about a line from the Guru Granth Sahib and said that he is against Muslims, then Ram Rai Ji asked Aurangzeb to please that this line is wrong, which he writes from his writing. When Guru Har Rai came to know about this fact that Ram Rai had called the Vani of Guru Granth Sahib wrong, it was the time when he decided to abandon Ram Rai forever and refused to ever show him his gross.

 

Last time of Sri Guru Har Rai Ji (Birthday of Guru Har Rai Ji):-

Guru Ji appointed his younger son Har Krishna Ji as the next guru after leaving Ram Rai. At that time the age of Har Krishna Ji was only 5 years. Shri Guru Har Rai Ji took his last breath on 6 October 1661.
